Fueling Those Who Serve: Partnering to Support our Military Families and Veterans

As a veteran-founded company, and in celebration of our 60th Anniversary this month, we are honored to give back to organizations that support military heroes and their families as well as the local communities that we serve.

In honor of Veterans Day, we were grateful to have the opportunity to thank veterans for their service with a complimentary breakfast and to participate in events with a few of our non-profit partners that are directly impacting and supporting our great veterans.

Hire Heroes works to empower U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce and we are honored to join them in this noble effort. In combination with our financial assistance to Hire Heroes, we also partnered with them to host a free career panel and networking event to provide support and networking for military members, veterans and their families.

Scott Garris, human resources business partner for Pilot Flying J and United States Marine Corps veteran, served as one of the four panelists at the event. “Our founder Jim Haslam started the company after serving in the United States Army, and many of our team members and guests are veterans or active-duty military,” said Garris. “That’s why we’re honored to partner with Hire Heroes to support these military families and veterans, providing not only funding, but also the support and networking to help them advance their careers and fuel their future success.”

Fisher House Foundation builds homes where military and veterans’ families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. We’re honored to fund a Fisher House location in Albuquerque, New Mexico to relieve some of the financial burden and stress that military families may face when seeking medical treatment.

Our veterans and military heroes often have sacrificed their health and physical wellbeing. For those heroes who have been injured or face health issues and require hospitalization for treatment, they will have the comfort and support of family.

We first partnered with Bunker Labs in 2017, and we’re excited about the impact the organization is making to generate opportunities for our veterans by helping them prosper in their post-military life.

We presented a check at a Muster Across America event in San Antonio, Texas on November 10, 2018, as part of the continued partnership and in support of veteran entrepreneur efforts.

The Muster Across America Tour is Bunker Labs’ annual national tour to cities across the United States showcasing veteran entrepreneurs, empowering local entrepreneurial ecosystems, and building powerful connections between the veteran community and the business community.

Our veterans and military heroes have sacrificed so much on our behalf. It’s both an honor and a responsibility to recognize, appreciate and provide resources to the men and women who protect our freedom. We know that our nation’s veterans are highly talented, dedicated, and hardworking and we’re committed to helping connect them to the right careers, resources and support.
