We value each guest that comes into our stores, and Callihan Mancera, a Texas newborn, is no exception! Callihan became one of our most unexpected and tiniest visitors when he was born at one of our Travel Centers.
On Sunday, July 11, 2021, Kaitlyn Fullerton and her husband Sergio Mancera stopped for a bathroom break at the Pilot in Beasley, Texas. They had no idea that they would walk out with the surprise of a lifetime. Fullerton, who was nine months pregnant, unexpectedly gave birth to Callihan, weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces, while she was inside the restroom.
One of our team members flagged down Kaitlyn’s husband to inform him of the news.
“It’s crazy to think she gave birth in the restroom,” Sergio told local outlet, KRIV. “Once I got to the restroom, she was over there all happy, smiling at me like nothing happened.”
Sergio proudly captured video of his wife and newborn child in his unique birthplace, and later posted the footage to TikTok. The video quickly went viral, gaining more than a million likes and 13 million views, as well as national news coverage from multiple outlets, including People, Inside Edition and Newsweek. Kaitlyn was dupped “Superwoman” by the many that heard the incredible story of her bathroom delivery.
We have to admit that we were tickled by one of the comments that Kaitlyn made about her miracle stop. She was very grateful that the bathroom was so clean, or she said she may have tried to get back to the car instead. Of the 27,000 comments on her video, several agreed with her with one saying, “Cleanest gas station bathroom I’ve ever seen!” We take pride in keeping our stores as clean as possible for our guests and have to be prepared for anything.
“It’s just really a miracle. Yeah, it was like a miracle,” the couple told KRIV. “It’s like God was right there really watching over us.”
We are honored to have been a small part of their special delivery and wanted to congratulate them with a gift basket stuffed with goodies for the whole family, including a $1,500 gift card to the parents which is enough for free coffee for a year or quite a lot of gas. Either way, we hope it helps fuel them as they embark on this next journey as a family of four.
“Wow, such a beautiful and wholesome story,” One viewer commented.
Callihan will undoubtedly be an honorary member of the Pilot Flying J family for life!
