Millions of Americans are hitting the road this summer, but before they can enjoy beaches and bonfires, travelers first have to plan the most important part of their road trip— where to stop for food. It’s tough to keep everyone happy while traveling, but our large and diverse selection of food and drinks should satisfy everyone.
In honor of road trip season, we analyzed the top 20 most popular food and beverage items from our 2017 sales data by state and identified interesting best sellers. A few make perfect sense. A gallon of water in Arizona? Yep, we get that. A few were a little more out there. Minnesotans, we have some questions.
Here are some interesting statistics about the buying habits of our guests:
• People love Pilot Coffee – it ranked among the top five food and beverage sellers in every state.
• 37 states are going bananas for bananas –Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Indiana each sold over 300,000 in the last year.
• The favorite PJ Fresh pizza flavor? Pepperoni, which made the top 20 list in 36 states.
