Sydney Jones, an Accountant at our Support Center in Knoxville, launched her career with us by taking part in the tuition reimbursement program. We spoke with her to learn more about her experience using this great benefit and how this might help someone else who may be interested in joining the Pilot Company team.
How did tuition reimbursement help you advance your career at Pilot?
“I started my career with Pilot back in 2015 as a team member at a Pilot- Arby’s. Through tuition reimbursement I was more exposed to individuals higher up in the company and eventually got into discussion with them about what my career was and where I saw myself in the company. 4 ½ years later I am graduating with a graduate degree in business and being offered a full-time accounting position here in Knox.”
How did the tuition reimbursement program help you receive your education, while maintaining a career at Pilot?
“Since I received tuition reimbursement multiple semesters, I was able to apply the reimbursement I received to the following semesters. This allowed me to not have to take extra student loans out and I was eventually able to use the money I received to pay for my graduate degree.”
What would you say to someone who is interested in tuition reimbursement?
“As long as you plan on being with the company for the required amount of time it’s definitely worth looking into and seeing if you qualify. It significantly helped me financially and gave me opportunities I may not have had otherwise.”
