Fueling Life’s Journeys During Times of Need

During times of natural disasters, it is important to be there for your community when they need help. Our team members at our stores in St. Augustine, Florida and New Caney, Texas did just that.

The safety of our team members and guests is always our number one priority. Our team members are committed to serving their communities and are ready to help when devastating storms like Hurricane Dorian affect their towns.

A high school down the street from our Flying J in St. Augustine was providing shelter for those affected by Hurricane Dorian. Team members pulled together to make and deliver 14 pizzas and six boxes of Cinnabons for first responders and people to enjoy, while they waited out the storm.

Our team members at the Flying J in New Caney faced a similar situation when heavy rain hit the New Caney area unexpectedly, causing flash flooding and many people to get stuck due to the high water.

Nearby Highway 59 was flooded and forced to shut down, turning many people into our store’s parking lot for refuge. Guests spent 15 hours at our travel center waiting for the highway to reopen. Click here to watch the local news interview with our guests and team members impacted by the flooding.

Team members worked incredibly hard the entire time making sure guests were fed and comfortable while they waited. With only two people being able to work deli that day, they still made sure there were plenty of pizzas being made, so that guests could have a warm meal.

“There’s no team as good as mine. We were happy to help the community during the flooding,” said general manager, David.

We are so appreciative of our team members for their commitment to serving our guests and taking care of their communities in a time of need!
