Earlier this week, we announced the amount raised in supporting the American Heart Association’s “Life Is Why We Give™” campaign. We are proud to share that not only did we surpass our goal last year, but we also exceeded our company’s goal of raising $1 million with a total donation of $1,068,243, placing our company as third among the top national fundraisers for this campaign.
Several of our Team Members rallied together to celebrate this outcome at one of our very own Pilot Travel Centers at Strawberry Plains Pike – near our company’s headquarters. To watch a video clip from the event, click here.
“We set a lofty goal, and we’re thrilled we reached it. But our true hope is that participating in this campaign has raised awareness and action in pursuing heart health and helping those impacted by heart disease and stroke,” said Mike Rodgers, senior vice president and chief strategy & information officer here at Pilot Flying J.
We worked together as a relentless force supporting a world of longer, healthier lives; but, we couldn’t have done it without the support and big hearts of our guests and team members. Throughout February, we sold paper hearts for $1, $3, or $5, provided guests the option to round-up their purchase to the next dollar and accepted online donations with 100% of all proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association. As Mr. Haslam humbly announced on the day of the reveal, this outcome is a “great manifestation, of our Team Members and Guests giving back.”
We also celebrated American Heart Month and an early Valentine’s Day, by partnering with University of Tennessee (UT) student-athletes and the American Heart Association on February 13 to surprise patients at UT Medical Center’s Heart Hospital with gifts to fuel each patient’s journey toward better health.
Our hearts are full as we recognize and appreciate the collective impact we can make for the cause of heart health and giving back to our communities. To learn more about the company’s giving back programs, visit www.pilotflyingj.com/giving-back.
