All of us at Pilot Flying J want to say ‘thank you’ to our fleet of professional drivers who have gone above and beyond to help fuel North America this winter season.
The job of a professional driver is not easy – Now add one more element to the mix: snow and extremely cold temperatures. This winter season, extreme arctic conditions have affected many of our locations. And still, our stores continue to be a reliable source of fuel and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) because our team of drivers dove in, truck first, to get the job done.
Our trucks continued to run in every market, every hour of the day, through the many cold fronts we weathered. Our drivers remained dedicated to delivering much-needed fuel and DEF despite the obstacles such freezing temps create. Not only do cold temperatures affect the time it takes to load and unload, but snow and the elements are physically tough conditions. The safety of our drivers, team members and guests is always our number one priority and was top of mind for our fleets braving these temps.
While the weather may have slowed things down, our team of drivers, field leaders and store members worked together to tackle this challenging situation and get drivers fueled so they can get back on the road.
Rusty Kirby, our senior manager of transportation, recognized their hard work. “Not only did our drivers choose to brave the elements, we also had two of our Regional Managers drive into the worst-affected areas to move supplies and support our drivers.” He went on to say, “While one Regional Manager spent time distributing DEF to trucks in need, another used his vehicle to provide warm beverages and a seat for drivers to rest while delivering fuel.”
We are incredibly proud of our ‘Road Warriors’ and Field Leaders, who have taken the initiative to go above and beyond in these extreme weather conditions – making a better day for each other and our guests.
