7 Spring Break Road Trip Tips

During the months of March and April, the interstate is hot with Spring Break travelers – and we’re no stranger to the friendly rush of passers-by each year. With more than 750 Travel Centers across the country, we’re here to facilitate your spring getaway with seven friendly #TripTips.

Trip Tip #1: Fuel up before you hit the road.
Nothing is sure to put the brakes on the initial excitement of your road trip like a flashing gas light. Plan to grab the gas before you start your trek or on your way out of town – your car, and your family, will thank you.

Trip Tip #2: Plan your bathroom breaks.
We’ve all had those “ah-ha” moments on the road. The kind when we go from cruise control, to desperately seeking a restroom. Our recent nationwide restroom upgrade is designed with comfort and cleanliness in mind, and is unlike anything else on the interstate.

Trip Tip #3: Don’t gloss over a seeming “no brainer.”
If you think an empty gas tank is the only thing that could bring down your spring fever, think again. A flat tire, (or even worse, two) on the side of the highway could leave you stranded and waiting for roadside assistance longer than you’d like. Check your tires at one of our air pumps when you stop to fuel, and you could save yourself a big hassle down the road.

Trip Tip #4: Get connected
Data running low? Forgot to submit that last-minute report to your boss? Pull off to a Pilot or Flying J Travel Center and get connected on our WiFi in no time. If you’re a frequent traveler, there are monthly and yearly subscription options available, too.

Tip #5: Food is fuel
Recharge your body and your brain after long hours on the road with quick to-go items like our Pilot Flying J coffee varieties and mixed fruit cups – perfect for snacking in the car. If you’re craving more of a sit-down meal, visit one of our PJ Fresh Marketplaces for fresh, pizzeria-quality slices with 100% mozzarella cheese. We also proudly feature 400+ restaurants across the country, from burgers to tacos.

Tip #6: Stay fresh with laundry services
If your trip stretches more than a few days on the road (we’re talking traveling for the long-haul), there’s a good chance you’ll need a change of clothes. MyRewards members can redeem points for laundry services at participating locations. To sign up, visit https://myrewards.pilotflyingj.com/

Tip #7: Stock up on essentials
Don’t let a lack of sunscreen be behind a blistering burn instead of a warm glow. Protect yourself from harmful UV rays with pain relief medication, sunglasses, hats and sunscreen – all available at Pilot and Flying J locations.

And there you have it. Go get your car packed and ready – and we’ll see you on the road.
